CONSTRUCTION BURN VICTIM

WINS

$5.4 MILLION

A 32 year-old recent immigrant will recover $5.45 million in a settlement of a lawsuit stemming from an industrial accident in which he was burned over more than half his body.

Daniel C. Minc, the attorney for the plaintiff, Yew Fatt Wong, said that the settlement was reached last Thursday during jury selection before Bronx State Supreme Court Justice Bertram Katz.

Mr. Wong was injured when adhesive glue vapors, which had collected in the non ventilated basement where he was working, suddenly ignited. He sued the buildings owner Lordae Management Corp., for failing to properly ventilate the area as required by the State Labor Law. The property owners subsequently brought a third-party action against Mr. Wong’s employer, New Arts City. Rosenberg, Minc & Armstrong, said New York City Art will contribute to approximately 90% of the settlement award.

New City Art was represented by Armienti, Brooks, Lubowitz, DeBellis & Dunphy; the property owners by Pitino and Associates of White Plains
